Even though America, China, Japan and Russia all produce Ginseng, Korea produces high quality Ginseng that is recognized as the world's best. Korean Ginseng is harvested after 4 to 6 years and is then called Korean Raw Ginseng or fresh Ginseng.
For manufacturing purposes Korean Ginseng roots are processed and categorized into 3 groups, Red Ginseng root, Red Ginseng tail root and White Ginseng root. The sun-dried Korean Raw Ginseng is called White Ginseng. The Red Ginseng is made only from the highest quality Ginseng root grown for 4~6 years.
The standard of classifying the Red Ginseng root is determined by it's age and freedom from diseases caused by plant pathogens.
1) Heaven's grade: The best of the best Ginseng root. Very compact inner flesh with a well-balanced shape.
2) Earth's grade: The second grade root, slightly inferior to the Heaven's grade root.
3) Good grade: The third grade root, inferior to the earth's grade.
